Example of a special solution:
A doorway build whitin a weather porch can cause problems - especially if the users condition is weak. It can be a problem - partly to turn the wheelchair due to the lack of space and partly it can be a problem to overcome rhe ramp since it is not possible to build up speed before reaching the ramp.
An elderly/week user vil be depending on a familymember or nursing personell in order to use the ramp.
It is possible to minimize these problems if the entire floor-level is raised in the whole weather porch. The first part of the ramp is now easier to climb and limited space is no longer an object.
This solution also means that the height of the threshold ramp at the front door is lower than before and therefore no longer a problem to overcome.
Example of level differenties between two rooms.
In old houses there is often level differenties between the rooms. If lack of space does not allow a relatively big ramp on one side - the only solution is therefore to remove the threshold completely. However the level differenties between the rooms will still exist.
Especially in these cases, it is very important that you choose the correct solution. Below you can se an example of a wrong construction. The threshold is removed and the ramp is build directly below the door. The problem is when the door closes it leaves a gap at the bottom allowing drafts to pass under the door.
The correct solution should instead be to extend the height from the top level allowing the door to close tight with the constructed repos. The ramp is mounted directly on the repos and will therefore be both lower and less demanding of space compared to keeping the original threshold.
